AirBrush 101 with Kelvin Poulton

These are images i took...without them knowing...hehe.. would've spoilt the fun if they did now innit?...hahaha..

Airbrushing for me is a unique form of art. It can be called fine art. It can be called Print art or whatever art it is you want to call it! Be it classic or contemporary.

Anyway, I had some ideas in my head, after Kelvin telling me to be creative in whatever we do. I came up with the works below. The scanner was a problem just now. Not mine. BCU's library. Someone must've spilled something on it..syeesh.now it looks as though i stained my work. BAH!..anyways..comment!

A Walk...

Hey there,

had the greatest time of my life today. Hehe. Did things in the workshop with Kelvin (lecturer) and Shah.

Was texting Henny. OMG! U just gotta see her Deviant works. MAN!...get a grip..let go of that camera! hahaha.. she's done great job. U see, no matter what, photography is always a part of that someone no matter where or when he/she came from. :)

Oh yes, i took a photograph of the park i always pass through in Aston. A beauty i tell you. Neat.

So like i was saying, did some work. Worked with the airbrush. Wooohoo!. Kelvin is one of the lecturer's who gives us the courage and support to be creative in our endeavours. Bless him. He's gonna retire soon. And he's gonna travel around the world with his mrs. And, he rocks! :D

Anyway, came back home at around half past 6. Got myself cleaned and cooked up something for dinner. Just chicken and fries today. LAZY!!

Hehe i might just get something really crazy tomorrow. For all to see and for all to quiz yourselves. Hahha. ;)

Aitte then. Will post more about that tomorrow. Feeling tired now.

Star Dust

Hey! Today was a busy day.

Woke up in the morning. Bathe and got ready for class. Left around 9.15. And caught the 997 premier.

Hmm reached BIAD in like..less than 10 mins. Haha. The traffic lights were going GREEN all the way.

Had Mark Making today. Showed Kelvin and Lois my works, and they were happy with it. And they want me to continue doing it and start adding anotations. Will do!

Hmm then was reminded of Azzan's birthday. Yes, today's Azzan's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

Went for lunch cum dinner at Nando's with them. Wooh. It sure was nice. Haha. Went for a movie after that. Just to celebrate his birthday =D

Watched Star Dust. Dang! It's a good movie alright. The actors played really well. Great Acting. Astounding action and much more. Especially Robert DeNiro. Hahahah! He was a joke. Gotta see to know though. Hehe. TIP! Pirate master+Paris Montmatre dancer. HAHAHA.....wicked innit?

Anyway, got back home and helped Prakash. He was sick. =S looked bad. But nways, gave him one of my medicine. Hope he'll be alright. Anywho, these few days, I have been quite close to the two lads. Quite grateful really. =) Ill not forget them even if years took me away. Didnt see Joyce and Ashlynn for quite some time though.

Yesterday went and washed my clothes. One of my HUGO BOSS shirt wasnt cleaned well. The person i could send to? DIANA. HAHAHA.. the master in cleaning. Well, not only cleaning. TomYam soup chef too! haha. Well, she helped out with the whole rendamkan baju thing. And was gonna pick it up later on.

So that's about it for today. Nothing that adventurous.

My spelling is getting horrible. Gotta start reading books now. Haha.

Ok then, im gonna go off to bed. Oh yeah by the way, tomorrow is the IDEA PRESENTATION to the lecturers. They WILL critic and comment on our works. Hope it's all fine tomorrow. Wish me luck!

The Initial Work made from paper cut outs and felt tip pen outline.

Here's another work i just completed. Nothing much but just paper cut outs and some photography and lighting. Well, my concept was to use the coloured papers and the think lines drawn behind the work, GLOW! so that it creates a sense of mood and sensation.

It was a hectic job by the way. Hehe. It's for my mark making class. Topic of the week: Paper Sculpture. Create a paper cut out and photograph it.

By having the colour representation i hoped to achieve the sense of balance in emotion. Did you get it?

Anywho, not much of photoshop work these days because of the module. Its only Intro to Graphics and Mark Making. Can't wait for Composition and Principles class. =D

anyway, it was an acetate drawing i did in class.. a week ago..was it? cant remember..anyway, yeah. Lois, the lecturer, told me to enhance the work. ENERGISE!..hehe..so yeah..i gave it a bit of couture paris touch. =) abit of Dubonnet. Well, u could say. A bit of France. =)

It was not a pretty drawing. It was messed up. Shaking. Blurry. But i loved the effect the pen gave to the acetate. Well, loved the whole work actually. I wanted the work to be abit of life. Spun by a few events and treats. And voila.

have been having also lots of thoughts on my mind really. Thoughts about what ill do whilst im here in the UK. What ill do when ive graduated. 3 years. What ill do when im supposed to be of great importance in my work.


I feel that, without passion nor inspiration towards ur work, no one would cherish it. Nor would time. What was supposed to be of great importance in your life turned into a piece of thrash.


Jonathan Day did once say, " If you can just look at an artwork, and understand, it means that the artist has accomplished his mission." What do you reckon? I do agree. And of course, another part of me doesn't. I think that, sometimes, when someone actually does an artwork, fine arts specifically, have no idea what the bloody hell they are doing. Haha. Not referring to any particular artist by the way.


Have been doing anotations on different graphics and advertisements in the city and one in London. Was very interesting to know that, the subject im learning, Intro to Graphics, makes me more sharp and keen on looking at advertisements or just a piece of graphics and interpret it. Disect it if you wish to call it. And find out what it is ALL about. What i like and do best. Haha


I hope i get to learn more and further my understanding by learning from other classmates and the lecturers. Obviously like what SAM Muhizam, my lecturer told me " you'll be learning more from your friends than the university. So enjoy it! ".


I buggingly try to enhance my understanding by looking around. I want to photograph the world outside this room of mine. Argh! move ur ass hilmi. Hmm apparently, im supposed to start jogging with prakash too. Haha.. insyaAllah il make it a HABIT! =D



I was in ASDA today with Diana. Haha. So lame ok. We were looking for things for at least 2 hours. Haha had fun though. Akma sms'd me. She said she was sick and is having exams tomorrow. GOOD LUCK! =D


Anywho, was watching lots of videos on cars today!. OMG! im amazed! SLR! ENZO! F1! Murcielago! Gallardo! and many more!! hehe. yes yes. imma fan of these super cars. and i tell u now people, im gonna own one of them. or maybe more in the future. So just prepare me the invoice. Here are some pictures of my trip to Azril/Apek's house in Pinner. His sister cooked lotsa food. It was delicious. Sorry couldn't stay long. Had to catch the bus. Was late too though. Haha.

Wow, how fast time flies. It's time for Eid already? My my. It has been a great year for me. Limkokwing. Birmingham. People. Family. Friends. And most of all, experiences. Alhamdulillah, i've lived through another Ramadhan, syukur.

Thanks Hyamin for the Hari Raya greeting. Made me ponder and thought, how come I'M not doing anything for Hari Raya. So yeah. Off i got on my desktop. And wished wooshed some crap. And tada! Here's what i got. Was really into doing it. Not sure what you people think. Anyway.

Lailatul Qadr

Well, it has been a month now since i've been in Birmingham. Hmm how time flies eh? Not to mention the amount of workload i have now. Hahaha no no im not complaining. Just telling. hehe

Well, everything is good so far. Alhamdulillah. Fasting. Praying. MasyaAllah everything is alright. I've been able to pray 5 times a day alhamdulillah. Though there were one or two glitches in Subuh. hehe apologies. Anyway, 5 days from now, we will be celebrating the most enjoyable day of the year! Hari Raya! Or EID. Back home, we used to go to atuks house the night before, and help out with the gatherings and so on. Atuk and wan would be cooking Rendang; traditional malay food. Oh crap. Im so gonna miss those.

Anyway, a parcel is on its way here. Ahaha YES people. My parents are sending me things. hehe the parcel's more of a NEED. Some serunding. And some KUEH. let me repeat. SOME KUEH. ACIKS KUEH!! InsyaAllah, if the customs are nice, then i should receive them in ONE parcel. If not. Well, i'll get to that later.

So yeah, i've been tirelessly doing my assignments. Not sure if it's going to turn out good. Pray that it will. InsyaAllah.

Till then, today im going out for some fresh air with some friends. Maybe a movie too. Hmm alrighty then. Do take care!

Hi! Well, today was pretty tiring really. Had to go out and take photographs of graphic works or designs on the road and everywhere. Was already at the BullRing at 12. Met with Shah. My my. His camera and tripod. Haha. We couldn't be missed walking around like that. Dangerous. I know. =)

So snap here and there. haha. Had so much fun. Well, tell that to my thigh. Syeesh. It cramped in the bus. I was on the way back. Great. Now i have to walk like the hunchback of notre dame. Argh! But it's alright now. Alhamdulillah.

Was stopped by a gentleman. He was reading the Bible to me and shah. Well, not a good duo to be reading the gospel now would it. I mean, no offence. We're both Muslims. Ahaha. I mean, target audience. Hello?

He was trying to make us grasp his ideology of Christianity. I believe that, in time, EVERYTHING will be unfold by God. Just wait and see. No offence to everyone yea. =)

He started gibbering about how the Bible was true and such. But he didnt convince anyone who came his path because, he was just simply talking. He said. There's a God. Because, there's a God. And? I mean, the bible must say something about that dont it? The Quran does. The Sastra does. The Torah does. So, how come he wasn't able to find what we asked? Because, he was just plain daft. Haha. I mean, sorry to offend him but if you want to convice other people about your religion, please do have more knowledge than of that you are questioning. Innit?

So tonight marks the final 10th night of Ramadhan. My dear brother, Ilham, text me and reminded me to do Solat Hajat, Tahajjud and Tasbih if possible. Yes ladies and gents, to all muslims out there. Grab this chance while you are in it. =D

What say you to the name? Pretty catchy eh? Might be a good idea too! They are going to spend about Pound 250 million on refurbishing and what not. That's what the Vice Chancellor released to us recently. Good luck to everyone in the process!

Today was Theoretical and Historical Studies. Learned about how we should be alert in looking out for character or elements in advertisements. These elements lead to sub elements. Thus, creating a chain reaction of great impact. Manliness, beauty, sacred mysticalism and what not. All these come into play and back on one another.

David Haden is my seminar lecturer. He gave the seminar topics today. It was interesting. Saw Henri Cartier Bresson's, Henri Toulouse Lautrec, De Stijl and many more topics. I gladly chose Lautrec. I'm just wondering whether it was the right choice or no. But hey, God must've gave me that choice for a reason eh? Good enough reason for me to work on that topic.

As an overview, Toulouse was a poster designer. Designed for the couture and posh streets of France way back then. I did my retro work on him, when i was in Tay Guan's class. Was a fun activity actually. Enjoyed it lots.

Anyway, walked back home. After the usual bus trip. So something caught my eye. A road that led to the parking lot. But at a different angle, it was a beauty. Want to see? Well there we have it!

That's me, a sudden take by Shah. Thanks alot. Spare me the embarassment. Shah is a good friend of mine in Uni. Met him a few weeks ago. A local. Very creative. Yet very distinguished. Owns a design firm. ALREADY? haha. well his dad built it for the family. Good that he's running it now.
